June 15, 2015

Meetings can take up a great deal of time in the business world. It is important to take advantage of learning in meetings to make sure you’re playing a valuable part in improving your organization. I have been in meetings where I did not where to start with asking meaningful questions. As a result, I started a short list of questions that I refer to when I am looking for my role in a project or project clarity.

Question to Ask In Meetings

Cost

  • What will be the cost to the project?
  • What cost improvements are expected because of this change/project?

Process

  • What is the scope of this process change?
  • Does this project/data include XZY?
  • How will this affect the current process?
  • What are the long-term impacts to the process?
  • Have you considered using the XYZ to prove your hypothesis?
  • What is the best process to complete this action?
  • Have the right people been engaged in this project?
  • How will this work impact others?

Reporting

  • What are the reporting impacts?

Technology

  • What tools are available to improve the current process?
  • How long will it take to implement the technology?
  • Is the technology solution customizable or an out of the box solution?

Closing Statements/Questions

  • When do you need a recommendation/feedback?
  • What is the timeline for this project?
  • Are the next steps clear to everyone?
